1 cup Granulated sugar
1 ½ teaspoons Baking powder
½ teaspoon Salt
2 Large eggs
½ cup Whole milk
½ cup Unsalted butter, melted
2 cups Whole milk
½ cup Granulated sugar
¼ cup Cornstarch
4 Large egg yolks
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
2 tablespoons Unsalted butter, cold & cubed
2 cups Fresh strawberries, hulled & sliced
2 tablespoons Granulated sugar (or to taste)
1 teaspoon Lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pa
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and melted butter
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients and mix until just combined
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes
  6. Allow the cake to cool completely on a wire rack
  7. Meanwhile, make the custard by whisking together the milk, sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks in a saucepa
  8. Cook over medium heat while whisking until thickened, then remove from heat and stir in vanilla and butter
  9. Pour the custard over the cooled cake and refrigerate for 2-3 hours
  10. Prepare the strawberry topping by mixing strawberries with sugar and lemon juice
  11. Once the custard layer is set, top with strawberries before serving
