Crispy Chicken Wonton Tacos with Asian Taco Slaw and Sweet Chilli Sauce are a delightful fusion dish that combines crunchy wonton shells filled with flavorful chicken, refreshing slaw, and a sweet and spicy sauce.

1.5 lbs Boneless, Skinless Chicken Thighs (or breast)
3 tbsp Soy Sauce (low sodium)
1 tbsp Sesame Oil
1 tbsp Rice Vinegar
1 tbsp Fresh Ginger (grated)
2 cloves Garlic (minced)
1 tsp Sriracha (optional, for heat)
24-30 Square Wonton Wrappers
3-4 cups Vegetable Oil (for frying)
3 cups Green Cabbage (shredded)
1 cup Red Cabbage (shredded)
1 cup Carrots (julienned or grated)
1/2 cup Red Bell Pepper (thinly sliced)
3 Green Onions (sliced)
1/2 cup Cilantro (chopped)
3 tbsp Rice Vinegar
1 tbsp Toasted Sesame Oil
1/2 cup Sweet Chilli Sauce
Optional Garnish: Sesame Seeds, extra cilantro, lime wedges

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken: Cut chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces and marinate
  2. Cook the Chicken: Sauté marinated chicken in a skillet until cooked
  3. Make the Asian Taco Slaw: Combine all slaw ingredients and mix with dressing
  4. Shape and Fry Wonton Shells: Fry wonton wrappers until crispy
  5. Assemble the Tacos: Fill wonton shells with chicken and top with slaw and sauce
  6. Garnish and Serve: Add garnishes and serve immediately

Notes

For gluten-free, use corn tortillas or lettuce wraps instead of wonton wrappers.

Assemble tacos just before serving to keep shells crispy.
