A magnificent Triple Chocolate Mousse Cake, also known as the Decadent Tuxedo Cake, features layers of moist chocolate cake and rich chocolate mousses, creating a show-stopping dessert perfect for special occasions.

Ingredients

1 ½ cups All-purpose flour
1 ½ cups Granulated sugar
¾ cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
1 ½ tsp Baking soda
1 ½ tsp Baking powder
1 tsp Salt
2 Large eggs
1 cup Buttermilk
½ cup Vegetable oil
2 tsp Vanilla extract
1 cup Hot water or coffee
8 oz Dark chocolate
2 cups Heavy cream
2 tbsp Powdered sugar
8 oz Milk chocolate
8 oz White chocolate
4 oz Semi-sweet chocolate chips
½ cup Heavy cream (for ganache)
Chocolate shavings, berries (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt
  3. Add eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Beat for 2 minutes
  4. Carefully mix in hot water or coffee. The batter will be thi
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a skewer comes out clea
  6. Cool the cakes for 10 minutes in the pans, then invert onto a wire rack
  7. Melt dark chocolate and cool slightly. Whip 2 cups of chilled heavy cream and fold into the chocolate
  8. Repeat the process for milk and white chocolate mousses
  9. Layer dark chocolate mousse over the first cake layer and chill for 15-20 minutes
  10. Add the second cake layer and top with milk chocolate mousse, chilling agai
  11. Top with white chocolate mousse and refrigerate for at least 4-6 hours
  12. Prepare the ganache by heating cream and pouring it over chocolate chips. Wait 5 minutes, then whisk until smooth
  13. Cover the chilled cake with ganache and chill for another 30 minutes
  14. Garnish as desired and serve cold
