These delightful Easter cookies are tender, buttery, and perfectly sweet. Perfect for family gatherings and holiday celebrations.

Ingredients

3 cups All-purpose flour
1 teaspoon Baking powder
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1 cup Unsalted butter, softened
1 cup Granulated sugar
1 Large egg
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon Almond extract (optional)
2 cups Powdered sugar
2-3 tablespoons Milk (any kind)
1 tablespoon Light corn syrup (optional, for shine)
Assorted colors Food coloring (gel preferred)
Sprinkles and edible glitter (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy
  2. Beat in the egg and both extracts until well combined
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined
  5. Divide the dough into portions, wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour
  6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare baking sheets
  7. Roll out the chilled dough to 1/4-inch thickness and cut into shapes
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are lightly golde
  9. Let cookies cool before decorating with glaze made from powdered sugar and milk
  10. Tint glaze with food coloring, then decorate cookies as desired

For gluten-free cookies, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free blend.

For a dairy-free option, use plant-based butter and milk.
