1 teaspoon Baking soda
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/2 cup Unsalted butter
1 and 1/2 cups Granulated sugar
2 Large eggs
2 teaspoons Red food coloring
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
1/4 cup Buttermilk
1/2 cup White chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets
  2. Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt
  3. Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy
  4. Add eggs, red food coloring, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients alternating with buttermilk
  6. Fold in optional white chocolate chips
  7. Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes
  8. Scoop dough onto baking sheets, leaving space between cookies
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set and centers are soft
  10. Cool on sheets for 5 minutes then transfer to a wire rack
