Ingredients

Scale

1 cup Unsalted Butter
2 cups Granulated Sugar
4 Large Eggs
2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
1 cup All-Purpose Flour
¾ cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
½ teaspoon Salt
1 ½ cups Valentine’s M&M’s (plus extra for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, greasing it lightly
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar, whisking together for about a minute until slightly lighter in color
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition, followed by the vanilla extract
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt, then gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, folding until just combined
  5. Gently fold in 1 ½ cups of the M&M’s into the batter
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly, then sprinkle the remaining M&M’s over the top
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the edges are set and a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs
  8. Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack, then lift out using the parchment paper and cut into squares

Notes

For best results, use good quality cocoa powder and avoid overmixing the batter.

Let the brownies cool completely before slicing for clean edges.
