Ingredients

Scale

1 sheet (10-12 oz) Frozen Puff Pastry, thawed
2 cups Whole Milk
1 lb Fresh Strawberries, hulled and sliced
1 Large Egg, for egg wash
1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
1 tablespoon Water, for egg wash
1/4 cup Cornstarch
3 Large Egg Yolks
2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Pinch of Salt
Powdered Sugar, for dusting
Fresh Mint Leaves (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Creamy Vanilla Custard by whisking together the sugar, cornstarch, egg yolks, and salt in a bowl, then slowly adding tempered hot milk
  2. Cook the mixture until thickened, then add butter and vanilla. Refrigerate the custard until firm
  3. Preheat the oven, prepare puff pastry, cut into heart shapes, apply egg wash and bake until golde

Notes

Use fresh and ripe strawberries for the best flavor.

Chill the custard thoroughly before assembly to prevent sogginess.
