Ingredients

Scale

1 ½ cups Creamy Peanut Butter
2 ½ cups Powdered Sugar
½ cup Unsalted Butter
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
¼ teaspoon Salt
16-18 ounces Milk Chocolate Melting Wafers
1-2 teaspoons Vegetable Shortening (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Peanut Butter Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine softened unsalted butter, creamy peanut butter, vanilla extract, and salt. Beat until light and fluffy
  2. Add Powdered Sugar: Gradually add the powdered sugar to the mixture, mixing until it forms a thick, moldable dough
  3. Shape the Eggs: Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of the filling, shape into ovals, and place on a lined baking sheet
  4. Chill the Peanut Butter Eggs: Freeze for 30 minutes or refrigerate for 1-2 hours until firm
  5. Melt the Chocolate: Melt milk chocolate wafers in a microwave or double boiler; add vegetable shortening if desired
  6. Dip the Eggs: Dip each chilled peanut butter egg into the melted chocolate and place back on the parchment-lined sheet
  7. Allow to Set: Refrigerate the dipped eggs until the chocolate is firm, about 15-20 minutes
  8. Enjoy: Once set, the Homemade Reese's Eggs are ready to be enjoyed

Notes

Use conventional creamy peanut butter for best results.

Chilling the filled eggs is crucial to prevent them from falling apart during chocolate dipping.
