The Oreo Layers Cake is a rich, moist chocolate cake layered with creamy Oreo cream cheese frosting and crunchy Oreo bits, creating an irresistible dessert that is perfect for any occasion.

2 cups Granulated sugar
¾ cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
2 teaspoons Baking soda
1 teaspoon Baking powder
1 teaspoon Salt
2 Large eggs
1 cup Whole milk
½ cup Vegetable oil
2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
1 cup Hot water or hot coffee
16 oz Cream cheese, full-fat, softened
1 cup Unsalted butter, softened
6-8 cups Powdered sugar, sifted
2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
¼ cup Heavy cream
Approximately 25-30 Oreo cookies, crushed
Approximately 10-15 Oreo cookies, for filling
6-8 Whole Oreo cookies, for decoratio

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your cake pans by greasing and flouring three 8-inch round cake pans, optionally lining the bottoms with parchment paper
  2. Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt
  3. Step 3: In a separate bowl, whisk the wet ingredients: eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until combined
  4. Step 4: Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and mix until just combined, then slowly mix in the hot water or coffee until smooth
  5. Step 5: Divide the batter among the prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean. Allow cakes to cool in pans for 10-15 minutes before inverting onto wire racks to cool completely
  6. Step 6: Prepare the frosting by beating the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth, then gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla. Mix in heavy cream and fold in crushed Oreos
  7. Step 7: Once cakes are cool, level them if necessary. Layer the cakes with frosting and crushed Oreos, applying a crumb coat and chilling before adding the final frosting layer
  8. Step 8: Chill the finished cake for at least 1 hour before serving. Let it sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes before serving
