Creamy Chicken Sausage Orzo : A One-Pan Meal

A comforting and creamy one-pan meal featuring chicken sausage and orzo pasta, perfect for busy weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

1 tbsp Olive Oil
1 lb Chicken Sausage
1 medium Yellow Onio
3-4 cloves Garlic
1 cup Orzo Pasta
3 cups Chicken Broth
½ cup Heavy Cream
5 oz Fresh Spinach
½ cup Parmesan Cheese
½ tsp Salt
¼ tsp Black Pepper
¼ tsp Red Pepper Flakes

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the chicken sausage and brown it, then remove and set aside
  2. Reduce heat, sauté the diced onion until translucent, then add minced garlic and red pepper flakes
  3. Stir in the uncooked orzo and toast for 1-2 minutes
  4. Pour in chicken broth, bring to a simmer, cover, and cook for 10-12 minutes until orzo is al dente
  5. Stir in heavy cream, cooked sausage, and spinach until spinach wilts
  6. Remove from heat, stir in grated Parmesan, and adjust seasoning
  7. Serve immediately

Notes

For variations, you can swap the sausage, add other vegetables, or change the type of pasta.
